PROTECTING PANGOLINS IN PERIL

Synopsis

Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal in the world, but Save Vietnam’s Wildlife (SVW) is going all out to save this shy and solitary creature from extinction.

Started in 2014 by Nguyen Van Thai, SVW runs a rehabilitation centre for rescued pangolins from the illegal wildlife trade. Before SVW, Thai was already involved with pangolin conservation efforts, working  as a keeper with the Carnivore and Pangolin Conservation Program under Cuc Phuong National Park. Since then, SVW has taken over managing the programme and has rescued 1,600 pangolins and released some 1,000 into the wild.
